Update 30 June 2020: It’s been brought to our attention that this video concept reflects an insidious caricature of Black men that’s permeated American culture from the time of Jim Crow and minstrel shows. The happy-go-lucky ‘Sambo’ stereotype is a long enduring narrative that we ignorantly fed into. This was never our intention, but we take full responsibility and are sorry for any pain we’ve caused to the Black members of our community. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to own up to our mistakes and learn from them. Our goal moving forward is to actively challenge racial stereotypes because we know doing so can save lives.
After everything that toilets do for us, we thought we’d go the extra mile to celebrate them. After all, your loo helps keep your community safe, clean and prosperous.
Toilets are amazing! Just don’t try tap dancing on them at home. Turns out it can be pretty slippery up there – best left to the professionals. Maybe just spend a little extra time with your toilet today instead.
In the spirit of spending more time on the loo, we’d thought today would be the perfect time to launch our blog. Did you realise you were on a blog? Welcome! Go ahead and poke around – it’s excellent reading for the toilet (or any other place you read).
And of course, World Toilet Day is a great day to top up on TP. Helping build toilets for the billions of people who don’t have them is a pretty amazing way to honour your loo, don’t you think?
*OK, fine. There are a few ways to celebrate.
PS – Special thanks to Aaron Williams for making our toilet tapping dreams come true!
