Celebrate the season by keeping seasons around for a while
We’re not going to beat around the Christmas tree – humans eat an enormous amount of meat and it’s completely unsustainable. How bad is it? Well, a study from the organisation, Environmental Working Group, shows that red meat is responsible for 10 to 40 times as many greenhouse gas emissions as vegetables and grains. And it’s not just cheeseburgers that are the problem (although those are, to some, the most delicious problem). Just the act of growing the feed for livestock emits a shocking amount of nitrous oxide, a greenhouse gas 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Listen, we’re not trying to be scrooges or cause drama at your family dinner. We all have that one Uncle Bob who loves saying that veggies are what his food eats. Great joke, Bob, but even just making a couple of substitutions can make a big difference. That’s why we’ve gathered some drool-worthy vegan recipes that will be Uncle Bob (and Mother Earth) approved.
