We made Olivia Colman out of DIY Play-Doh
It goes without saying, Olivia Colman is an international treasure. She can act, she can act and she can, you guessed it, ACT. She makes us laugh, she makes us cry – she’s our favourite queen both on- and offscreen. Obviously, we had no choice but to sculpt her head out of Play-Doh.
The tricky thing is that sculpting clay didn’t exactly feel like an *essential* item to shop for, plus name brand Play-Doh is filled with all types of chemicals that really have no business being near a child’s hand. Don’t even get us started on the plastic packaging.
So we did what any good quarantined, eco-friendly Colman superfan would do – we made our own. It only took a pot and some pantry items we already had (and we bet you do too).
Before we get any further, we know why you’re here. You’d like to see our Olivia bust! Well, here she is.
Talking about a spitting image, right?
We know, we gasped too when we first saw her.
Now let’s get to the recipe.
Mix the bicarb, cornstarch and water in a cold pot until it’s smooth
Turn the heat on your stove to medium
Continuously stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until it clumps together into a dough (this will take 3-5 minutes)
Realise you should have gone to the bathroom before you had to stand there stirring
Plop the dough onto a silicone baking mat or a cutting board
Wait for the dough to cool
Feel free to mix in colours (we had some from another project) or essential oils for scent
Sculpt the strong, female lead of your choice
Making Ms. Colman was incredibly fun – truly an excellent activity for anyone trapped at home. Now we just want to get our homage to the queen herself. Anyone have her phone number? We’ll also settle for Queen Elizabeth.
